2009 Cecil Hart Award Winner
2009 Winner of the Cecil E. Hart Memorial Award
Atlantic Cerebral Palsy Conference May 31, 2009
Charlottetown, P. E. I.
It is very difficult to come up with the right words to describe this years nominee. This person is a very dynamic individual who, when they take on a project, puts their all into it and sees it to its completion.
Linda joined the Halifax Regional Cerebral Palsy Association around 1993 and is still a member. In 1997 her family moved to P. E. I. and she immediately became involved with the Island Association. Linda is just a telephone call away when we have fundraisers, or other Association events.
Our 2009 winner is very supportive of persons living with Cerebral Palsy. Linda not only shows much understanding and empathy towards those living with Cerebral Palsy but also the caregivers. If someone has an issue about those living with Cerebral Palsy she seems to be able to explain why you have the issue and how to work it out to realize it is your issue not those living with Cerebral Palsy.
Linda is a great friend too many. She is an exceptional person with her great sense of humor and laughter. She is a pleasure to work with, talk with and just to be with, a good listener, and a supportive person to all.
Over the years it has been very touching to watch how her son has evolved into the superb young man he has become. It is because of her caring and compassion and that of her husband, Russell that Brent, age 21, has thrived while living with cerebral palsy. He is so well adjusted and is out in the world, working alongside others living with a disability and the caring assistants that help them.
Linda truly demonstrates her keen interest in the ongoing work on behalf of those who are afflicted with cerebral palsy. We are sure you will agree that the 2009 recipient of the Cecil E. Hart Memorial Award is truly deserving of this honour. We hope she will be around for many years to come to encourage others along their way.
Thank you.
